70 Birthday Souvenirs

An anniversary of Guillermo Bustamante Consuelo

were met one year after the disappearance of writer Guillermo Bustamante, author of The last round and The murmur of the blood (novels) and two books of poetry. Although I still feel it in the seventh race, where he always talked about literature, politics and contributions, is that it is just an illusion. Transcribe a text that I sent Leonardo Agudelo, written for the anniversary: \u200b\u200b

"Guillermo Bustamante: the joy of leaving all

The Cat in the Roof

William died in the law of the asphalt on a sunrise near Santander Park, in this hostel called public space. His body, lifeless and abandoned word. I met him invited to the Writers' Workshop at the University, in a room where chairs drew a crescent moon, he sat with his chin high, eyes bright. Once or twice we met on the streets silent, until one day SINTRATELEFONOS cafeteria, where he arrived with a book of American fiction. That was the moment to break the ice. Dressed in a sloppy outfit, her body, with the strong smell of street fighter, emerged a deep and unique voice, clear as dew on the grass feeds ... His words had the sound of the Magdalena River, where he was born, wrote and fought. One day I asked: "William, why the violence does not stop running down the Magdalena River? There began the story of the origins of the paramilitary. Each word was coloring a mosaic of sunrises and blood, a mixture of personal reminiscences, readings, and experiences as a journalist and writer. In the early 80's, peasant instinct that something would change inevitably foreshadowed in the history of the region forged beating navigation, civil wars and the Tropical Oil Company, when he heard from the lips of an attendee to a meeting near Puerto Berrio, in 1982, repeat the words of an army officer: "The circumstances of the region will change and we believe that you are the people who can join us on this project." I never heard a story where the narrator was actor and writer, like that Saturday morning when we happened across the street from Gabriel Garcia Marquez cultural and a coffee. His words could not be hesitant in memory, I decided to write as he walked away with the step Chaplin Writers Workshop. Just wrote our conversation, I learned the true value of the encounter. The next week I went to the shop and talk: this time I wrote his words in front of their eyes. At the time I ordered a brandy and I said was better to make sober history. He was silent, got up and, before her figure fade into the door frame, said: "This talk about dead without a drink is not for me." Two weeks after our first meeting, the eve of presidential elections, I arrived early to attend the Saturday coffee attending the workshop. It was a cold morning of a crystalline silence. William did not come. His steps were taking to the road and at night, to a park where the game took leave of loss and gain, on a Sunday morning. "

Bad Reactions To Brazilian Wax Red Spots

House National Monument

I find an old press release, the newspaper Gramnma , La Havana, written by Octavio Borges, which accounts for the declaration as a National Monument in the house of the great José Lezama Lima, and I refuse to transcribe, although it is no longer news, but, perhaps, yes it is being. Lezama was born on December 19, 1910 and died on August 9, 1976, at age 66.

"The house where the great writer José Lezama Lima lived most of his life, was declared today, the centenary anniversary of his birth-National Monument. Abel Prieto, Minister of Culture, along with national awards for literature César López, Reynaldo Gonzalez and Anton Arruda, canceled a day on top Celebration of Life and work of the author of the monumental novel Paradiso .
Margarita Ruiz, president of the National Cultural Heritage and Zuleica Romay, president of the Cuban Book Institute, unveiled the plaque which records the status of National Monument to the grounds of Trocadero 162, very close to the Prado in Havana. Ruiz said that the installation treasure the legacy of the author of Death of Narcissus , books and paintings and the atmosphere of an operator that is a landmark of Cuban culture and universal.
The painter Francis Fernandez Trujillo opened his exhibition Crossing myth, a collection of portraits of José Lezama Lima, all linked to his obsession with literature and it shows in their most intimate and recurring gestures, as when smoking a snuff was absorbed. Yane
Dancers Barbet and Pedro Ricardo, the Cuban Television Ballet presented a stage performance based on the poem titled "Rhapsody for the mule," which featured a performance by actor Robert Gacio special.
The event concluded with a musical presentation Mediocre Caribbean Theatre, a group that makes a curious experimentation with voices and instruments.
Now, even more so, pass in front of Trocadero 162, will become a ritual without fail for visitors to Havana.

David Viñas (Buenos Aires, 1929-2011)

I'd like to meet David Viñas, or at least have written me with him, as I did with Haroldo Conti. That was a generation of writers with dignity, which means not necessarily be good writers. But they were both. They were great writers and dignity. That they need, today, many writers. Including some Nobel.

I remember very well when, in 1991, was asked if he was not stupid or reject drivel Guggenheim Fellowship and David Vines said: "It is a tribute to my children. Vinticincomil cost me dollars. Point." His children Mary Adelaide and Lorenzo Ismael were "disappeared" by the military dictatorship in the seventies. Viñas

Mcculloch Silver Eagle Gas Chainsaw Oil

Carpentier, Yezzed, Sánchez Suárez

Letters to Toutouche
Alejo Carpentier
Havana, Ed Letras Cubanas, 2010, pp.471

is a beautiful book, because it gives us another dimension (complementary) the great and immense Alejo Carpentier we knew. Are 138 letters to his mother, Lina Valmont, written from the boat when going to Paris, between the years 1926-1937, when he begins to live off their writings, their reviews, criticism, reviews, about books and authors, and live the hardships and the rewards of voluntary and involuntary exile. It's amazing how at that age and Carpentier had in mind a whole world of literature, music, film, artistic, cultural and political. And how he writes! The compilation was supported by the Fundación Alejo Carpentier and it involved people like Rafael Rodríguez Beltrán (translation and foreword), Graziella Pogolotti, Blanca Zabala (editor) and Araceli García-Carranza, among many. Is the origin or first Carpentier, but it is the meet in his vast narrative and commentator on all the arts, including those just beginning or the vanguards of them. Interlinings with their family and their feelings positions toward bilingualism and the claim against the Latin American world. (I thank you for sending the book, inconseguible in Colombia, the poet, writer and essayist, director of the ICAIC in Havana, Omar Gonzalez, who should I call my long-standing Carpenter).

air Paragraphs
Fredy Yezzed
Medellín, Ed University of Antioquia, 2010, pp. 348.

Its subtitle
clarification that this is the First anthology of the prose poem Colombia, and therefore is out of the ordinary. It is a friendly, curious and very serious text on a category widely used but little theorized: the poem continued, as I said Juan Ramón Jiménez. The poem with lines that are diluted in the horizontal chain and written with the intent of the poem (or if Rivera would, too, with The Vortex, a novel with so much poetry). But poetic prose, or so much narrative poeticized. Yezzed Baron Fredy López (Bogotá, 1979), or Yezzed, as we all think he is a poet and writer, with several awards to his credit (of the Daytime, the Ministry of Culture, Bogota, that of Metropolitana de Barranquilla "I won a year ago, with two books of poetry published, a graduate of La Salle, the Javeriana University, and lives in Buenos Aires, where he won the Poetry Macedonio Fernandez last year. He himself has a book of poetry prose salt madness. Who Yezzed included in his anthology? Eye: José Asunción Silva, Castañeda Aragón, León de Greiff, Rafael Maya, Simon Latino, Luis Vidales, Amira de la Rosa, Jorge Zalamea, Eduardo Carranza, Herazo Rojas, Jaime Jaramillo Escobar, Elkin Restrepo, Armando Romero, Elisa Davila, Raul Henao Alvaro Miranda, Juan Manuel Roca, José Luis Garcés González, Santiago Mutis, Guillermo Martinez, Ruben Velez, Mery Yolanda Sánchez, Gabriel Jaime Franco, Fernando Linero, Alberto Vélez, Fernando Herrera, Mauricio Contreras, Nelson Romero, Gonzalo Marquez, Ramon Cote, Pablo Montoya, Carlos Framb, Juan Felipe Robledo, John Jairo Junieles, Felipe García Quintero y Lucía Estrada. And closes with a bibliographic map denoting the seriousness of which is also Fredy invewstigador Yezzed.

Bon voyage, General
Benhur Sánchez Suárez
Ibague, Ed Hunt Books, 2010, pp.

Between 1969 and 2010, Benhur Sánchez Suárez (1946) has published a dozen books, including novels, short stories and essays. Some of them internacioanales recognition as The body (1975), finalist in the Premio Planeta novel. A year ago in the International Book Fair of Bogota, introduced a new novel, Bon voyage, General , which became one of the best-selling books by the new editorial, Hunt Book, Pablo Pardo. Volume of the back cover, as I finish reading the novel, the main details of her: "In eleven chapters, divided into four narrative levels, Benhur Sánchez Suárez us in this novel, the heroism and tragedy of the general Tulio Varon, liberal hero of the War of the Thousand Days. " Tulio Varon has always been a mythical figure in the culture and the novelist laboyano tolimense proposed, from a journalist who investigates the life of the guerrilla liberal, blending reality and fantasy, as in real life the forgotten Tulio Varon, recreate their lives to let in the light of contemporary readers. I think Bon voyage, General of Benhur Sánchez Suárez was one of the most important novels published in Colombia. One more point in his renowned novel and recovery of these myths that the official story has been misinterpreted to clear over time.
